Year 10 Business Challenge

While seniors sat their practice exams, sixty four Year 10 girls were taking part in a 3 day programme called The BP Business Challenge. Working in teams of 8, the students had to imagine a new product or service, write a business plan to produce and sell their product and then launch the idea in a pitch to judges on the final day. Five successful business men and women, including AGGS old-girls Kendal Collins and Marie Holo, came to judge the quality of each team's business strategy. The judges were impressed with the enthusiasm, knowledge and confidence of all of our girls. The winning company APEX Portable created a portable food heater.

2019 School Uniform

At the start of 2018 we re-introduced a Year 13 school uniform so that our most senior students would be more visible as role models and as student leaders.

This gave us the chance to review and refresh all of our uniform and from 2019 our Year 9 students will be wearing a new uniform, which will be gradually introduced to all levels. Our girls are pictured wearing the new uniform in the heading photos on the website.

All students will wear a striped shirt. Our Year 9 and 10 students will wear a short skirt to the knee and our senior students also have a choice of wearing a long skirt. The uniform also features a stylish new blazer.

Uniform Group which has manufactured the new school uniform will be running the Uniform Shop from the beginning of Term 4 this year. The uniform shop will still be situated in the school grounds.  Opening hours for the School Shop for Uniform purchases for Term 4 2018 are as follows:

Mondays 12.45 to 1.30pm
Tuesdays 12.45 to 1.30pm
Wednesdays 11.00 am to 1.30pm
Thursdays 12.45 to 1.30pm
closed Fridays and Saturdays

AGGS Founding Day 2018

Each year since 1992 at a special assembly we have honoured three women who have a special connection with our school.  This is an opportunity for us to recognise the achievements of these women and for them in turn to inspire and encourage our current students to work hard so that they too can fulfill their dreams and ambitions.   This year as we celebrate the 130th anniversary of our school, our recipients were, ex-Principal Charmaine Pountney NZOM;  Charmaine was awarded the NZ Suffrage Medal in 1993 for her services to women and she was made a Companion of the NZ Order of Merit in 2002 for her services to education and the community.  At the ceremony Charmaine presented these medals to the school.

Rionne Papa is off to the US on a Full Basketball Scholarship

U.S Basketball’s got Kiwi NBA star Steven Adams … and now it’s got another New Zealander with big basketball dreams – Auckland teenager Rionne Papa.

Papa has won a Full Ride Scholarship in the United States and leaves on Monday (August 13) for her new life in Missouri.
