On Friday 8 September, as has been our tradition every year since 1992, we were delighted to welcome back to AGGS for our Founding Day Assembly, 'Old Girls' Poto Williams, Christchurch East Member of Parliament,
Isobel Gillon, our current school archivist, ex-AGGS teacher and student from 1949 to 1953, her daughter Rachel and grand daughters Emily and Hayley, all of whom attended AGGS. We were also thrilled to have with 'old girls' and sisters, Aroha, Hana and Talei Si'ilata. Aroha is a Doctor, Hana a lawyer and Talei is completing her MA in Museums and Cultural Heritage.
At Founding Day, the Old Girls' Association also presented scholarships to three current students, Sarah Tatafu, Year 11; Mya Fraser, Year 12 and Geogia Boland, Year 13.

On 25 August both our Under 17 and Premier Basketball teams competed in the finals of the Auckland Secondary Schools Basketball Competition. Congratulations to both teams, who came from behind, in two nail biting finishes, to win their games against Massey High School and Mt Albert Grammar School respectively, and take out the title of 2017 Auckland Champions in their respective grades. The Premier Basketball team will now go onto compete in the Regional Championship and from there, if successful, the National Secondary School Championship in the October school holidays. Earlier in the week our Rugby League teams were the winners of the Rugby League Shield in the Rugby League Girls Auckland Tournament held at Cornwall Park. Another great day for AGGS Sport.
