AGGS is known for our high quality biennial school productions - Students are actively involved in all aspects of the school production - including all acting parts, they are the musicians in the band, involved in backstage, lighting, creating costumes, wardrobe, stage makeup and front of house duties. Past successful productions include Grease, The Wiz, the Sound of Music and Return to the Forbidden Planet.
Students have access to learning a wide range of musical instruments through our school music itinerant scheme. Students can receive tuition on a range of instruments including piano, bass guitar, guitar, violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, saxophone, drums. Lessons are usually in small groups and are based on a revolving timetable. Students have access to private piano lessons that are held at school.
Students are encouraged to be part of school music co curricular groups including the Auditioned choir, chamber music groups, the flute ensemble, string groups including the string orchestra and jazz combo.
Each year students regularly participate in a number of competitions including the Westpac chamber music competition. We have had a number of bands do extremely well in the Pacifica Beats competition.
Through Dance our students are encouraged to participate in local festivals and competitions and in the past have entered such competitions as "Bring it on".
We encourage access to wide a range of the Arts - teachers actively encourage and include visits to local Art galleries, attend APO concerts, provide music mentors, hold lunchtime concerts to ensure students have access to the wider Arts community.
